Sandra joined B. Cremades y Asociados as an associate in September 2010. Prior to joining the firm, Sandra worked in the European Parliament and in the European Commission. Her practice focuses on EU law and international arbitration, with a particular emphasis on commercial arbitration, investment protection, and other specialist areas.
Professional experience
Sandra Cajal has extensive experience representing clients in international commercial arbitration and investment protection disputes. She has also acted as secretary to arbitral tribunals on several occasions. Sandra has participated in international proceedings under the rules of various international arbitration institutions, particularly the ICC, the SCC and ICSID.
Sandra’s experience has focused on the protection of foreign investment and commercial arbitration in a variety of sectors, including engineering, public works, oil and gas, and agency.
In addition to her arbitration work, Sandra provides counsel on EU law, with expertise in competition law, internal market and energy-related matters.
Prior to joining B. Cremades, Sandra held positions within EU Institutions, including serving as an advisor to the European Commission’s External Relations Directorate General and within the European Parliament Internal Politics Directorate General.
During her tenure at the European Commission, Sandra provided counsel on initiatives funded by EU programs and assisted with the preparation and review of EU External Action Regulations. At the European Parliament, she monitored financial and legal aspects of legislative procedures, including those related to the internal market and external relations. Additionally, Sandra assisted the European Parliament delegation in their legislative and financial negotiations with the European Commission and the Council of Ministers.
